Selamat Datang ke Singapura! (Welcome to Singapore!)

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to participate in the 2nd Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE 2008) and the 6th Biennial Meeting of the Pacific Rim Society for Fertility & Sterility (PRSFS 2008). These two events will be held simultaneously in Singapore from 11 – 13 April 2008. Opening on the evening of 11 April, the two-day event will see the gathering of Asia Pacific’s top O&G experts and Infertility specialists, scientists and researchers – exchanging ideas and participating in discussion forums and courses.

A highlight at the Congress is the 30-booth exhibition showcasing the latest technology in ART and related infertility equipment. For this Congress, we are also including a series of intensive lectures in a one-day intensive Pre-Congress Courses on 11 April, to explore and engage in extensive discussions on topics such as In-vitro Maturation, Cryopreservation, PCO and Hormonal Contraception.

The Congress scientific programme comprises a range of topics pertinent to clinicians and scientists involved in the management of, and research into, the rapidly developing field of ART.

The theme for this year’s event is “ART – Paving the Way for New Frontiers” in celebration of three (3) decades in the field of ART. In aligning the theme with our host country Singapore, we have infused the image of our national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim with the ASPIRE logo. The ability of Vanda Miss Joaquim to bloom throughout the year reflects Singapore’s continuous quest for progress and excellence and resilience to stand in difficult times. This steadfast determination to excel is a symbolic representation of ASPIRE’s continuous, admirable mission to improve the quality of infertility services, raising awareness and understanding of treatment options for infertility amongst healthcare professionals and the public in Asia Pacific.

As host for the event, Singapore, which embodies colour, contrast, culture, diversity and uniqueness, offers delegates opportunities for relaxation amid the intensity of the Congress.

My friends and fellow practitioners, we hope this meet will provide you with the additional venue and opportunity to network with experts in reproductive medicine and infertility management. For delegates who were with us at ASPIRE 2006 in Changsha, Hunan, China, and at PRSFS 2006 in Seoul, Korea – welcome back!
